Scope and Contents

Published: Piercy Roberts. Napoleon bestrides an ass which stands an open oblong box inscribed 'Iivasion' [sic]. The ass is a spiritless creature wearing blinkers; its rump is branded 'France'. Bonaparte, in profile to the left and wearing a huge tasselled bicorne, holds out a sabre in his left hand. He says: "Me will make dat Jean Bull Tremble now I have found out de Grande Conveyance". On the horizon on the extreme left is a promontory with a castle; near it are a few ships. Description from the British Museum. [Title absent from this version.]
