Scope and Contents
Black and white engraving of Sarah Gales, engraved by H. Adlard from a miniature by W. S. Robinson, on page 327. Sarah Gales was the youngest of the three sisters of Joseph Gales, the editor of the Sheffield Register who James Montgomery lived with and eventually took over the running of the newspaper from. James Montgomery lived with the Gales sisters for the rest of their lives, with Sarah surviving them all.
