Biography
Magical Kingdom of Camelot was a resort and theme park in Lancashire, England owned by The Story Group and operated by Knights Leisure. The park was themed after the popular legend of King Arthur, Camelot and the Knights of the round table and targeted to the family audience, although it hosted several white knuckle rides including Knightmare and Excalibur.
The park first opened its doors to the public in 1983 and operated for three years until it was taken over by Granada Group. However, theme parks at the time were suffering a decline in popularity and in 1998 the park was taken over by Prime Resorts Ltd, who managed it until 2009. Camelot was then purchased by construction company Story Group and leased to Knight's Leisure, who run it until 2012.
