Biographical / Historical
The charter of incorporation granted by King Edward VII established the Senate in May 1905. Senate is the academic authority of the University overseeing the teaching and research of the University, responsible for academic quality and standards and for the admission and regulation of students, subject to the overall control of Council. The Statutes of the University prescribe the constitution, powers and duties vested in Senate.
