Scope and Contents
Press cuttings and other material relating to David Blunkett's early political career in Sheffield. Mainly contains press cuttings concerning local issues relating to Blunkett's role as a Councillor for Southey Green Ward but also includes cuttings concerning the ban on guide dogs in the House of Commons; and a letter from Blunkett to the editor of the newspaper of the University of Sheffield Students' Union concerning student housing crisis due to anti-social behaviour of some students, nd [Autumn 1971]. Also includes other material including minutes/notes of meetings of council committees, and a 'plan and directory' of the Methodist Church Sheffield North Circuit, listing Blunkett as 'on trial' [as a lay preacher].
