Scope and Contents

A series of letters, notes, press cuttings and other material from the years that Blunkett held cabinet posts, selected by Blunkett for potential use in future biographies or memoirs. Contains private and confidential correspondence regarding government policy, including letters to and from the Prime Minister Tony Blair, cabinet ministers and others. Includes private letters to Tony Blair which Blunkett refers to as 'Billet Doux' regarding Blunkett's thoughts on various issues facing the government. From mid 2001 onwards the files mainly consist of press cuttings. Many of the items, especially in the earlier part of the series, are labelled in braille.
