Scope and Contents
Correspondence files relating to local issues affecting Blunkett's constituency and Sheffield as a whole, rather than specifically to his roles in the cabinet. Mainly contains correspondence with individuals and organisations within his constituency and the rest of Sheffield, and with other local MPs including Helen Jackson, Caroline Flint and Clive Betts. Subjects include: proposed closure of Turning Point, a residential drug rehabilitation unit in Birmingham [used by residents of Sheffield], April 1998; tax affairs of Satellite Security Ltd, Sheffield, March 1999; funding for Yorkshire and the Humber region (Yorkshire Forward), June 1999-July 2000; complaints regarding an article by Joe Ashton MP published in the Sheffield Star relating to teachers, February 2001; and development of Doncaster Airport, August 2001. Also includes information and reports relating to Sheffield sent to Blunkett from government departments. Includes a copy of an area-wide inspection of Sheffield by Ofsted (December 2002); and an electoral review of Sheffield City Council by the Boundary Committee for England (Feb 2003).
