A Panic on both Sides or Great Men in the Horrors!!, November 1795
Scope and Contents
Artist: Isaac Cruikshank. Published: S. W. Fores. Pitt and Fox, much caricatured and with large heads, sit back to back. Pitt (left) sits in profile to the left on a chamber-pot ornamented with a crown, his hand held out deprecatingly. He says: "I wish from my heart these cursed field meetings were put a stop to". From his pocket protrudes the 'Convention Bill'. Fox (right) sits on a low chair directed to the right, his arms folded, scowling over his shoulder towards Pitt. He says: "If that abominable long Bill Passes into a Law, it will be all over with the opposition Boys!" From his pocket protrudes a paper: 'Copenhagen Meeting'. On the back of his chair hangs a tiny bonnet-rouge, far too small for his huge head. Description from the British Museum.
