The cook, carbuncled, filthy, and slobbering, empties the scrapings of a plate into a large pot standing on the floor. A ragged waiter hastens to the dining-room with a plate, scratching his head and looking over his shoulder at the cook. On the wall hangs the ‘game’ for the pot: a frog, a cat, and a dog.
