Blaess says the library will be close for 15 days but she has much to do. She mentions a strange tea party at Dillis' on Tuesday - Dillis wasn't there, so Blaess entered, made tea for Dillis' mother, and knitted. She advises her own mother not to talk about her daughter for three hours because it's boring and that's what Dillis' mother did. But she's happy she went, because the lady doesn't move or see anyone so she kept her company for a little bit. Blaess admits that she feels hollow and depressed when she's not working, she feels like she's wasting her time. She doesn't want to tell anybody else because people might say it is because she lacks love but she says she has her parents' love and that's enough. She says every man she has met (except for her dad) has inspired her disgust, contempt, pity. She writes again on Saturday - she is sorry her parents hadn't received her letters. She mentions the war: some rationing cards are being distributed, and it's difficult to get what you want. The Americans at her boarding house have left, and new Polish men have arrive - she finds them over polite and doesn't really like them. She can't wait to go home (in two months) to tell her parents about everyone and their character.
