Blaess updates her parents on the weather (spring-like). She attended a viva and thought it was terrible and must be miserable, and very long. She decided not to go to the opera that Sunday, but her Aunt demanded she goes with Yolande; so now she has to run to get tickets even though she doesn't want to go and is hoping there are no tickets left. She tells her parents about Mme Lecolletier: she really likes her and their Tuesday tea is becoming a weekly institution. Blaess is quite worried about her friend Norah: she and her boyfriend are almost certain to get married but she feels like this is a mistake. Indeed, she tells her parents about Norah's naivety and gullibility.
