Irene Champernowne's Autobiography, 1970 - 1973
Scope and Contents
Irene Champernowne wrote her autobiography c1970 onwards, and appears to have spent more time on it after her cancer diagnosis and in the lead up to her death in 1973. Her autobiography remains unpublished, apart from one chapter on Toni Wolff which was published as 'A Memoir of Toni Wolff' (see 483/7/6/4). Champernowne was very open about her life experiences, to a degree, and this is reflected by her autobiography in which she talks about her father's death by suicide, the impact of the First World War, her friendships and her trip to Lebanon.
