Scope and Contents

Black and white photographs, colour photographs, contact prints, and some photographic negatives, of Ralph Norman (aka Hal Denver) shown in later life (c1980-1990) and also in costume performing his knife throwing act with his assistant, Olga (known as The Sensational Denvers) (c.1950-1970), visiting the beach, fairgrounds and sightseeing during a trip to Cuba, and the United States of America (June-September 1956) and his sideshow called, Chihuahua Town in Hull (1960), together with collaged and worked colour photographs, of stage equipment presumably created for advertising purposes (The Giraffe Neck Woman, The Human Pincushion, The Human Spider, The Headless Lady and Off with His Head), and his workshop in Leeds (c1970-1980). Accompanied by photographs of family members, including Tom Norman, showman and father of Ralph Norman, and his Ghost and Goblins’ Show, as well as photographs of family occasions, weddings and a funeral (c1900-1970).
