Scope and Contents
Black and white photographs of Rosaire’s Circus and members of the Rosaire family, collected by Ruth Manning-Sanders. Includes photographs of the circus grounds, and circus performers in costume, often with the animals they trained, on stage and also backstage at leisure and rehearsing whilst traveling with Rosaire’s Circus. Individuals featured: Fred Rosaire (also known as 'Count Rosaire' or 'The Count'), Florence Rosaire (also known as 'Countess Rosaire' or 'The Countess'), Aubrey Rosaire, Dennis Rosaire, Ida Rosaire, Ivor Rosaire , Vivian Rosaire, Zena Rosaire, Cissy Rosaire, Derrick Rosaire, Betty Rosaire (wife of Derrick Rosaire), Lucy Rosaire (wife of Ivor Rosaire) and Juliette Rosaire (daughter of Ivor and Lucy Rosaire). Several of the photographs have annotations on the reverse, and some were possibly used in books published by Ruth Manning-Sanders
