Scope and Contents

Photograph album, containing black and white photographs and postcards with annotations, relating to Walter Marshall’s service with the Royal Air Force in South Africa, India and then the Middle East during the Second World War. Includes photographs of him in uniform and the men he served alongside, shown on active service, in camp, at leisure and playing sports, interspersed with photographs and postcards of landscapes, buildings, historic sites, streets, military vehicles and aeroplanes, and war graves, as well as the people he met, collected whilst he was stationed in Cape Town [South Africa], Bombay [India], Damascus [Syria], Haifa [Palestine], Cairo [Egypt] and Jerusalem [Israel]. Black bound volume, cover decorated with embossed flowers and an image of Rachel's Tomb, Jerusalem.
