Scope and Contents
Contains balance sheets and revenue accounts, including finances related to the Parliamentary Defence Fund, susbcriptions, expenses, donations to St. John's Ambulance, legal expenses, propaganda expenses, organ licences, taxes, profit and losses, Spitfire Fund and other information related to the Showmen's Spitfire 'The Fun of the Fair' including a photograph, takings and war loans, also contains the Showmen's Guild central building tenancy agreements, documents regarding the Movable Dwellings Bill, document related to railway rates and Showmen traffic and booklets containing rules of the Amusement Rides Association, rules of the Showmen's Guild, a permit for the use of good carrying vehicles, proclamation and charter for Rothwell Annual Charter Fair, certificates of membership for E. Shaw, The Roundabout Proprietors and Showmen's Union, a photograph of a letter from Mitchell and Kenyon, a letter from Pat Collins discussing gang activity at the fairs involving the Peaky Blinders and the Black Mask gang and a letter addressed to William Savage and a copy of the History of the Showmen's Guild book by Thomas Murphy.
