Biography

The School of Architectural Studies was established in 1908 in the Faculty of Applied Science and transferred to the Faculty of Arts in 1911. In 1965, the University set up the Faculty of Architectural studies, in order to allow growth of existing and new subjects. Sheffield was the first in Britain to establish a Faculty of this nature. The Faculty of Architectural Studies became obsolete in 2007 as documented in a Senate report to the Council meeting on 9 July 2007. The department of Architecture was then incorporated into the Faculty of Social Sciences.
